Why choose hand woven?
Our pesthemals are woven using traditional methods on two separate types of looms, wooden looms and ‘Kara Tezgah’ looms. While the fabric is completely hand-woven on the wooden loom, on the ‘Kara Tezgah’ looms the entire weaving process is realised by human hands except for the shuttle and foot-treadle movements. Weaving culture is present in every region of Anatolia. Unfortunately, today these weaving traditions are being lost to a large extent as a result of the industrialisation of the textile sector in response to the demands of fast consumption habits. As Prickly Pears, we aim to carry this forgotten tradition of Anatolia forward to the next generations. That's exactly why our hand-woven products are not just something you buy, they are our past and our future
